This design-build remodel redefined the home’s main gathering spaces, introducing architectural volume, material continuity, and a more integrated layout across the kitchen, dining, living, and entry areas. The project addressed this entire side of the house, creating a cohesive foundation for daily life.
In the kitchen, the drop ceiling and fluorescent lighting were removed, and the ceiling was vaulted, dramatically changing the scale and feel of the space. The bay window was replaced with unobstructed glazing, simplifying the wall plane and improving natural light. The peninsula that had separated the kitchen from the dining area was removed to improve circulation and reinforce the relationship between rooms.
The kitchen was rebuilt with new cabinetry, quartz countertops, and a matching backsplash that creates a clean, continuous surface. Floating shelves introduce balance and openness along the wall elevations. A coordinated Café appliance package, including an induction double oven range, dishwasher, and counter-depth four-door refrigerator, anchors the space, while a Zephyr hood wrapped in a custom cover aligns with the new vaulted ceiling. A redesigned lighting plan enhances both function and atmosphere.
The adjacent wet bar was reconfigured to integrate more naturally with the surrounding rooms, opening what had previously been an inward-facing layout into a more welcoming and social arrangement.
The wet bar is anchored by a hand-cut Moroccan Zellige tile backsplash in a warm amber glaze. Its subtle variation and irregular surface introduce texture and depth, creating a focal point that contrasts with the clean lines of the surrounding cabinetry. Quartz countertops, floating shelves, and a dedicated beverage center complete the space.
New engineered hardwood flooring was installed throughout this entire portion of the home, and all walls and ceilings were freshly painted, visually unifying the living areas.
The result is a brighter, more cohesive environment where architectural updates and thoughtful detailing transform the home’s central spaces into a modern, functional heart of the house.
